April 23, 1935 – August 21, 2021
Paul Dennis Hass passed away after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease at age 86.
Born and raised in the Bronx, New York to parents Joseph, an inventor, and Gussie, a homemaker, Paul joined the US Army in 1954 and was stationed at Trippler Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii where he served in the Medical Corp. After his military service (including eight years as a Reserve), he attended the University of Wisconsin where he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering.
Joining Hunt Wesson Corp. in 1965, Paul moved into Business Acquisitions for oil and tomatoes and relocated from Minneapolis to Fullerton, California. It was here that he met the love of his life – through a Personal ad – Barbara Bomze. After a whirlwind romance they were married in 1992 and moved to Tustin, and later Mission Viejo, California. Paul inherited a family and became known as Poppy and Grandpa.
After more than 35 years at Hunt Wesson, Paul retired in 2000. He spent the years since then doting on his family, traveling, and teaching his grandchildren about his newly found hobby, stock trading.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Hass. He is preceded in passing by his older brother, Alvin Hass.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Parkinson’s Foundation at parkinson.org
