

Memorial services for Richard M. Rodnick, 81, of Newport Beach, California will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Temple Bat Yahm (1011 Camelback Street, Newport Beach, CA 92660) followed by a burial at Pacific View Memorial Park (3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona del Mar, CA 92625). Mr. Rodnick died on Sunday morning at Hoag Hospital from respiratory failure. Over the last four decades, Mr. Rodnick had become a renowned authority in international business and finance. He is credited with having defined the merger and acquisition business for middle-market companies as founder of The Geneva Companies. After nine years as its chairman and chief executive officer, he sold Geneva to Chemical Banking Corporation. He was then founder and chairman and chief executive officer of EquiCo LLC, a leading internationally based investment banking firm with a specialized practice in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and corporate finance for middle-market companies. Rodnick was a respected deal-maker and negotiator who has served as a board member for numerous US companies. He has also acted as an advisor to several offshore entities. His business acumen has been chronicled in Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, and he was a frequent media resource for journalists with The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Los Angeles Times and many others. A former Regent’s Professor at the University of California at Irvine’s Executive MBA Program and speaker, he has conducted lectures and seminars throughout the world, sharing his specialized knowledge with business owners and CEO’s and mentoring many. Mr. Rodnick is survived by his wife, Laurie Rodnick; brother, Jerry Rodnick; son, Russ Rodnick; daughter, Shaun Kutcher and his grandchildren Jason and Jessica Kutcher.
