Robert Gordon Benson, son of Oscar and Florence Benson, was born on June 9, 1929. He grew up with his sister, Elaine, in Chicago, Illinois where he attended school and the local Lutheran Church. He met his first wife, Thora, at a church service. After graduating high school, Robert went on to attend college as an engineering major at the Illinois Institute of Technology. He married Thora in June of 1952. Bob had three children, Scott, Leslie and Leanne who began life with him in St. Louis, Missouri and later moved to California in 1963.
Bob had a long and successful career as a sales engineer in the aerospace industry. He enjoyed his work, was an avid golfer and loved to travel. As a father and husband, he was devoted and loving. he remained devoted to Thora until her passing in 1994. He taught his work ethic, values and love of travel to his children. He was fortunate to find love again and married Rita Hibbert in September of 2003. They had thirteen happy years together traveling and enjoying retirement. Bob was thrilled to become a grandparent. He has three beautiful granddaughters, Annalise, Amanda and Madison.
Bob will be remembered for his deep love and dedication to his family.
