Shirley Krueger Case, age 94, passed into heaven on March 25, 2026. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, she moved with her family to Laguna Beach in 1943. After graduating from high school in 1950, she attended UCLA, majoring in interior design.
In 1954, she married her high school sweetheart, Storm Case, and together they raised their three children in Laguna Beach while remaining active in community service. Beginning in the late 1960s, Shirley taught piano to local students for forty years. During that time, she earned a master’s degree in music and was deeply involved in the Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC) at both the local and state levels.
Classically trained, Shirley also had a love for ragtime and Dixieland jazz. She and Storm shared a passion for travel, often combining Shirley’s piano performances with Storm’s watercolor art. They loved the arts, hosting home concerts for visiting artists. For many years, they welcomed dozens of friends to their annual New Year’s Day beignet party.
Throughout her life, Shirley lived out her faith, actively serving and participating in the Christian communities at Calvary Church and Laguna Beach Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Storm Case; her son, Scott (Laurie) Case; her daughter, Linda Case; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Doug Case, and her brother, Richard Krueger. A private family service will be held at a later date.
