

Steven Mark Borowski, age 67, a successful entrepreneur, philanthropist, beloved husband, loving father, caring grandfather, brother, uncle, mentor and friend peacefully passed away at home on February 16, 2025. Steve led an incredibly full life dedicated to his family, companies, and organizations & causes he held dearest.
Steve graduated from the University of California Irvine in 1979, where he pitched for the baseball team before a brief stint in minor league baseball for the Milwaukee Brewers. He received his MBA from Pepperdine in 1984. He went on to have a successful career in investment management, founding two companies, Metropolitan West Capital Management and Aristotle Capital Management.
Steve remained actively involved with UC Irvine and was instrumental in helping bring back their baseball program in 2002. His ardent support of the program culminated with the recent gift to build The Borowski Family Player Development Center. Steve was also a UCI Trustee and served on numerous academic and athletic boards.
Steve served on the boards for Big Brothers Big Sisters Orange County, Lincoln Club Orange County, and the Orange County Youth Sports Foundation. Of all of his accomplishments and titles, those he was the most proud of were “Girl Dad” and “Grandpa”.
Steve is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Linda; his daughters Christie (Justin) Bunkis, Kimberley Hendrix, and Kelsey Borowski; his four grandchildren Kinley, Colton & Kate Bunkis, and Harper Hendrix; and his siblings Resa (Nic) Harbord Giaconelli, Debi (John) Pendleton, and Mike (Yvette) Borowski.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 22, 2025 at the Irvine Barclay Theatre at 11:00 am. For those planning on attending, please fill out the RSVP link below. The celebration will also be livestreamed. See the link below as well.
