

Thelma (Tammy) Evatt was born on February 14, 1941, in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, to parents Floyd and Drucilla Pruett. Tammy relocated from Oklahoma to Southern California with her family in 1956. She graduated from Anaheim Union High School in 1959. Tammy then attended college at California State University, Fullerton, where she was an active member and President of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She graduated in 1963 with a degree in Sociology. Tammy married James (Jim) Evatt on June 3, 1964, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, following Jim’s graduation from the Air Force Academy. The newlyweds then embarked on a lifetime of service to their country. Upon their retirement from the Air Force in 1987, Tammy seamlessly transitioned into her role of supporting her husband throughout the remainder of his career with the military division of The Boeing Company.
Tammy is survived by Jim, her devoted husband of 58 years, her eldest son Aric and his wife, Stacy, and their two daughters Rachel and Charlotte, and her younger son Patrick and his wife, Heidi, and their three children Laurel, Vivienne and Landon.
Tammy was a devoted and loving Christian woman, who gave tirelessly of herself as a Military wife, Boeing wife, volunteer, and missionary. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, whose life revolved around her family. One of her favorite places to spend time was Disneyland, where she created countless magical memories with her two boys and their families. Tammy shared her love, joy, and light to make the world a more beautiful place for everyone she met, but especially for her family.
Tammy went to be with the Lord on July 5, 2022. After a decade long battle with cancer, she passed peacefully at home in Newport Beach, California, surrounded by her beloved family.
A graveside service will be held on August 27, 2022, at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell, Oklahoma. Donations in Tammy’s honor may be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201-0001.
