He served with the United States Army as a First Lieutenant in the Military Assistance Command, in Vietnam, during the Vietnam War. He saw combat at a forward base very early in his deployment. Afterward, he was assigned as a civil affairs officer in South Vietnam. He was responsible for directing, advising, and administering aid to non-military civilian organizations such as schools, orphanages, and other civic concerns.
He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army and returned home to California in 1969. Tom attended the University of Southern California on the G.I. Bill and completed a Master’s in Public Administration.
Tom served as the Finance Manager for Orange County Vector Control for 32 years. He retired in 2001 when he was 57 years old. During the last few years, he worked for All City Management Services as a Crossing Guard at the corner of Avendale Blvd. and Daisy Street in Ladera Ranch, California, across from the Avendale Clubhouse.
He was married three times, first to Lois Reynolds. Tom and Lois’ children are David and Diane. He later married Jerri Reynolds. Jerri’s daughters are Heidi, Tracy, and Mandy. After Jerri’s death, Tom married Georgia Vlanti. Georgia’s daughters are Ireni and Christina.
Tom loved taking his family and friends on adventures. He also loved golfing, camping, fishing (especially at Twin Lakes), cooking, hospitality, walking on the beach, and watching the horse races at Del Mar and Santa Anita. Tom deeply appreciated time with his family and friends. He was exceptionally loyal to his friends and kind to all.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Reynolds, his father, Charles Reynolds, his older brother, Doug Reynolds, and his second wife, Jerri Reynolds.
