

Adan Alaniz, Jr., passed away January 25, 2016 in Harlingen, Texas. He was born August 11, 1934 in Rio Grande City, Texas to Adan Alaniz, Sr. and Consuelo Dominguez Alaniz. He served in the United States Marine Corps for 21 years with a tour in the Korean War and two tours in the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Marine Corps he worked for the Veterans Administration for 28 years as a Counselor and Field Examiner. Adan was a 3rd Degree Master Mason with the Masonic Lodge #189 and a member of the Marine Corps League. In retirement he proudly continued to assist veterans, friends and family throughout his life. Adan will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Eva Valadez and Dalia Rodriguez.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Irma G. Alaniz; children, Cynthia (Gary) Saenz; Belinda (Daniel) Fabela; Ronie (Rick) Cruz; and Adrian (Cindy) Alaniz; grandchildren, Dominic (Rachelle) Fabela, April Fabela, Crystal (Mike) Ramos, Richard Cruz, Jr., A. J. Alaniz, Andy Alaniz, Kristian Saenz, Adam Alaniz, Amanda Saenz, Aaron Alaniz, and Justin Saenz; great grandchildren, Analysa Gonzales, Andre Gonzales, Cameron Ramos, Chase Ramos, Ryan Alaniz, Aralynn Alaniz, Autumn Alaniz and Gavin Fabela.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Sunday, January 31, 2016 with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. in the Chapel at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at Memory Gardens with Interment at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
