Alfredo Canales (Fred) passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. He was born on August 7, 1956 to Reynaldo Canales, Sr. and Oralia Saenz Canales, who preceded him in death along with his brother, Reynaldo Canales, Jr.
Fred is best remembered for his many distinct traits. He was a generous man who was modest, wise and above all, had an “easy-going” personality. He loved to cook and barbeque. Menudo, tamales, and venison jerky were among his specialties. He had a passion for the outdoors, whether it be the beach, the family’s ranch, or even his own backyard. The ranch was his favorite place to be, where many star-filled nights were spent sharing stories around the campfire. Now, the stories will be about him and his legendary adventures, as there are many to be told.
Fred graduated from Moody High School and worked for both the City of Corpus Christi and CCISD. He later became a property manager, a job which gave him the opportunity to use his many skills.
We are comforted in knowing that because of Fred’s faith and belief in God, he has been welcomed into Heaven, surrounded by eternal peace, joy and love. He left us with priceless memories of great times spent with family, which will forever be engraved in our hearts.
Fred was truly irreplaceable. His sense of humor, kindheartedness, and perpetual reliability will be missed by his wife, Lucy Canales; his four children, Freddie Canales (Angie), Melodie Ferris (Jeff), Sandy and Adrie Canales; his two sisters, Velma Canales Cantu (Arnold) and Linda Lee Canales Hernandez (Armando), along with his grandchildren, Miguel, Isabella, Dominic, Tyler, and Madelyn, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jorge Ramirez, Dr. Ajay Sehgal, and the entire staff from Del Cielo Hospice for their excellent care during Fred’s final battle with cancer.
Private services will be held under the direction of Memory Gardens Funeral Home.
