Alma Lydia (Morales) Escamilla, age 82, passed away peacefully to be with our Lord and Savior on June 9, 2021. She was born on February 28, 1939 to Adelaida C. & Quirino Morales in Cypress, Texas and was raised in San Isidro, Texas. She graduated from Edinburg High School, married her husband of 49 years in 1964 and was employed by McAllen Independent School District as a Cafeteria Manager for many, many years, before relocating to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1990.
She will always be remembered for her dedication and devotion to her faith and family, love of cooking, her witty character and doing her find-a-word puzzles. She will be missed for the joy and light she brought to each person she met and was loved by all who knew and met her.
She goes home to the Lord to be reunited with her parents: Adelaida C. & Quirino Morales; her loving husband: Edelgardo Escamilla; her sisters: Aida M. Mendez; Amalia M. Arenas; Antonia M. Hernandez; and her only brother: Abel Morales.
She is survived by her sons: Javier L. Escamilla & Jose L. Escamilla; her daughter-in-law: Patricia A. Escamilla; her only granddaughter: Priscilla A. Escamilla; her sister: Alicia M. Rivas; her sister-in-law; Maria Morales and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A Rosary will be recited at 9:30am followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:00am on Friday, June 25, 2021 at the Corpus Christi Cathedral located at 505 N. Upper Broadway St., Corpus Christi, Texas 78401.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00am on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church located at 1108 W. Hackberry Ave, McAllen, Texas 78501 followed by interment at Valley Memorial Gardens located at 3605 N. Taylor Rd, Mission, Texas 78573.
