He is preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Shirley A. Day Hollingshead Ashworth; brother, Chester Ashworth; and sister, Rose Miles.
He is survived by his son, Fred Ashworth and grandson Sam Ashworth of San Antonio, Tx; brothers Leroy A. Ashworth (Sabrina) of Winnie, Tx and Donald E. Ashworth of Lumberton, Tx.
Archie proudly served a lifetime career in the United States Military with the US Army, 03/09/1946 -06/27/1952, USNR NAS Corpus Christi, TX 1964 – 1967, NAVRES Officers School FE-1, Yokoma, Japan, 1968 – 1971, USNR NAS Corpus Christi, Tx 1972- 1975, BUPERS Washington, Dc, 1976 – 1984 * NAS Corpus Christi, TX 1985- 1988. He was a Merchant Marine and a WWll Veteran. He received his Bronze Star Medal in Korea.
A Funeral Service will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. with Interment to follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at noon.
