Arturo Mendoza born on July 29, 1940 passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026 at the age of 85. Arturo was born in Mission Texas to Gregorio and Francisca Mendoza, he lived in Corpus Christi, Tx as a child and most of his adult life. Arturo Mendoza lived a life centered around hard work, music, and the deep love he had for his family.
For many years, Arturo worked as a truck driver, traveling across the United States and experiencing the open road.
Arturo had a passion for music. He loved to sing and play the guitar, often enjoying the songs of Johnny Cash, whose music he admired. Whether playing music or simply listening, those moments brought him peace and joy.
Known as a true jack of all trades, Arturo was someone people could count on. Being the 6th oldest of 14 siblings, he naturally took on a caring role within the family. In his younger years, he was like the “mother hen,” always surrounded by his children and his nephews whom he lugged around in his Volkswagen van. His greatest joy came from being surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Arturo loved having them around and spending time together. Family gatherings were always special to him, and he cherished the laughter and connection they brought.
One of the traditions he looked forward to most was visiting the family ranch in the Valley. Each year, the family would gather for family reunions jokingly dubbed as “El Guapo Fest”. Family would come together celebrating, reconnecting, and creating memories. Those trips meant the world to Arturo and became some of the moments he treasured most.
Arturo is now reunited with his parents, Gregorio and Francisca Mendoza; his youngest and eldest sons, Robert and Ralph Mendoza; his siblings, Santos, Oscar, Rubén, Jesus, Victor Mendoza, Maria Canales and Diana Aguirre.
Left to cherish his memories are his children, Arnold (Sandra) and Arturo Jr. (Lupe) Margarita Salinas, Norma Jean Estrada (Rene) and a daughter in law (Edelia); 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild. His siblings, Gregorio Mendoza Jr (Mari), Dr. Manuel Mendoza (Olga), Beatrice Garcia (Rey), Virginia Chapa (Héctor) and a sister in-law (Mary Mendoza); along with numerous nieces and nephews. Arturo will be remembered for his caring heart, his love of music, his hardworking spirit, his philosophical thoughts and his deep devotion to the “Virgen de Guadalupe “ and family.
Visitation for Arturo will be held at Funeraria Del Angel on March 17, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 pm. The Mass of The Resurrection will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on March 18, 2026 beginning at 10:00 am with interment to follow at Memory Gardens.
