Aurelia Pina

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother/grandmother, Aurelia Arredondo Piña, who left us peacefully at the age of 88 to be with our Lord on Friday, September 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at home.

Aurelia was born on July 27, 1936, in El Remolino, Coahuila Mexico and dedicated her life to nurturing those around her. She was first married to Cosme Damian Reyna, with whom she shared 23 years of marriage, and later to Reyes Piña, who remained her devoted companion until his passing in 2001. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Aurelia was the heart of our family, sharing her warmth, wisdom, and unconditional love. Aurelia was also known for her devotion to her church and our Lord Jesus Christ, her delicious home cooked meals, and her love and dedication to her family and friends.

Her kindness knew no bounds, and her laughter could light up any room. In the garden of life, Gueli, as her grandchildren lovingly called her, was a radiant bloom- vibrant like the color red she adored, gentle as the birds she cherished, and nurturing as the plants she always loved to tend. Her love took root in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and everyone she met. She cherished her time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she adored and inspired in countless ways. Although she has flown to a higher sky, her spirit will forever bloom in our souls.

Aurelia is survived by 3 brothers and 2 sisters, Francisco Arredondo, Juan Arredondo, Hermelinda Osuna, Bertha Villarreal, and Jose Maria Arredondo. Her five daughters/and son-in-laws, Mary Carmen/Santiago Gonzalez of Taylor Texas, Lourdes/Sturgis Robinson of Corpus Christi Texas, Magdalena/Jose Gonzalez of Robstown Texas, Rosario/Edgar Villarreal of Taylor Texas, and Alma Leticia/Giovanni Carias of San Antonio Texas. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews all of whom will carry forward her legacy of love and compassion. Aurelia was preceded in death by her beloved child, Cosme Damian Reyna Jr., and her beloved husband, Cosme Damian Reyna. She is also preceded in death by her beloved husband and lifetime companion, Reyes Piña; her mother and father, Virginia and Jose Maria Arredondo; and her brothers, Federico Arredondo and Pedro Arredondo.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Rosary service at 6:30 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home at 10:00 AM with the burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Tanner Blake Steele, Juan Piña Jr, Jorge Abraham Falcon, Santiago Gonzalez Jr., Jose Alberto Gonzalez, Armando Emmanuel Villarreal, Sturgis Scott Steele, and Juan Piña.
