

Carl William (Bill) Nix, 87, died January 1, 2011, a resident of Portland for 55 years and a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church of Portland. Carl retired from Reynolds Metals San Pat Plant after 28 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Claudia M. Nix; two daughters, Sharon (Thomas) Duncan of Portland, Texas and Cynthia (Jeff) Porter of George West, Texas; three grandchildren, Robert W. (Michele) Duncan of Houston, Texas, William J. (Ruth) Porter of George West, Texas and Matthew Luke (Renee) Porter of Flint, Texas; two Great-granddaughters, Madison Michele and Paige Victoria Duncan of Houston, Texas; sisters, Vesta Jennings of Arlington, Texas, Evelyn Dean of Kingsville, Texas, Doris McNiel of Beaver Creek, Ohio, Darlene Wright, of San Lorenzo, California, Connie Clark of Odessa, Texas; brother Harrel Nix of Kingsville, Texas; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his father, Lorenzo Dow Nix and Mother Lillie Virginia Nix; Sisters Lena Mae Stewart of Kingsville, Texas; Gladys Cross and Lois Tate of Corpus Christi, Texas; Margaret Ruth Boggan, of Kingsville, Texas; Leora Ligon of Texarkana, Texas; Brother, Paul Nix of Kingsville, Texas.
Carl proudly served his country in the 148th Infantry, He was a Veteran of World War II serving 27 months in the South Pacific. His passions were fishing, hunting, gardening, dancing, and watching the Cowboys and Cubs on TV. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, January, 3, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors Chapel, 4901 Everhart, Corpus Christi, Texas. Services will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, 2100 Buddy Ganem Dr., Portland, Texas with Reverend Mark Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas.
