It is with great sadness that the family of Carlos Ramos Rodriguez announce his passing into eternal rest the evening of Wednesday June 23, 2021, at the age of 77. Carlos was born on July 7, 1943, to Inocencio and Santos Rodriguez in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Carlos was a lifelong native of Corpus Christi. Following graduation from Corpus Christi College Academy High School, he enlisted in the US Air Force where he worked as a specialist with the 394th Strategic Missile Squadron at Vandenberg AFB in California and the 667th Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron at Hofn Air Station in Iceland. He was honorably discharged and proudly spoke about serving during the Vietnam War era and was an active member of the Catholic War Veterans of the USA - Corpus Christi, TX.
After serving his country, Carlos entered matrimony with Mary Alice Medina in 1967 where they shared 21 years of marriage and two children Melissa Lynn Rodriguez of Corpus Christi, Tx and Charles Andrew Rodriguez (wife Lisa) of San Antonio, TX where his indelible legacy will live on through them. Carlos lived to instill upon his children the ideals of deep devotion to family, service to country and community, and to unwavering faith in God. He served his community as a respected Firefighter in Corpus Christi, TX and at N.A.S. Kingsville, TX, however, his love and passion to serve others led Carlos to complete his education with a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology while attending Texas A&I University and Corpus Christi State University. Upon graduating, Carlos began a highly distinguished career in the Mental Health field which spanned over 25 years. He was licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapy Counselor, and Chemical Dependency Counselor. He was a father figure to so many individuals that were not his children and left his lasting mark upon them. His gift to those he served was to give stability, purpose, and direction. He will truly be missed.
Carlos loved people and would easily make friends with any individual who was blessed to meet him for the first time. He was a loving father, a devoted disciple of God, and a loyal friend. He loved to laugh and would not miss a chance to tell a joke or to fill up a room with laughter through his amazing storytelling. His smile was unending and contagious. He offered it as a warm gift to all. He enjoyed fishing and hunting but spent most of his free time playing golf since it was his favorite way to stay active. He thoroughly enjoyed golfing and fishing with family and friends since the common themes of his life were family, friends, love, laughter, and fellowship. He also had an insatiable appetite for Jazz music which he developed at a young age where he participated in school Jazz bands as an Alto Saxophone player.
The greatest legacy of Carlos can be found in the love and adoration of his siblings, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brother Lorenzo (wife Ruth) of San Antonio, TX and his sister Rosemary of Corpus Christi, TX, his grandchildren Mathew (wife Jessica), Michael (wife Audrey), Jonathan (wife Tiffany), Jordyn, Andrew, Ryan, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who will each carry his memory and love. He will be missed deeply but faith reminds us that we will see him again in God’s house. May his love, light, guidance, and memory be with us continually.
