Carmen De La Garza

She graduated from Miller High School in 1961. She worked for Corpus Christi Independent School District for 24 years and after her retirement she worked at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic School for 2 years.

She married her husband of 50 years in 1964. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family and her love of cooking for her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Alicia De Luna; and her brothers, Anastacio Espitia, Rosendo De Luna, and Jose Simon De Luna.

She is survived by her husband, Arturo De La Garza; daughters, Yvette De La Garza and Laura Michelle De La Garza; granddaughter, Bianca Ponce De Leon; sisters Armandina Cantu (Francisco) and Lucy Reta; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors and Intensive Care Unit nurses of Doctor’s Regional Hospital and DaVita Coastal at Home Dialysis Center, for the loving care they provided.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Friday May 29, 2015 at Cage Mills Funeral Directors Chapel, 4901 Everhart Rd. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that same evening. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday May 30, 2015 at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 3210 S. Padre Island Dr. Private burial will be held on Monday, June 1, 2015.
