He was born on November 12, 1951 to Castulo Mendiola Sr. and Antonia Meza Mendiola.
Castulo was called up to heaven to be with the Lord after a short battle with lung cancer. He was an avid musician who started playing basse and guitar as a teenager and played with various music groups. He served in the U.S. Army from 1970-1973 and was stationed in Germany. He drove an 18-wheeler for over 40 years and dedicated his life to working hard to support his family.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather to his grandchildren.
Castulo is survived by his wife of 45 years, Theresa G. Mendiola; son, Orlando Mendiola Sr. and daughter, Amanda (Genaro) Gonzalez; grandchildren, Liliana Mendiola, Joshua Gonzalez, Orlando Mendiola Jr. and Benjamin Gonzalez; sisters, Emelia (Anastacio) Garcia, Maria Lopez, Graciela Mendiola, Lucia Villarreal and Hilaria Mendiola; and brothers, Ernesto (Susan) Mendiola and Ruben (Maria Cruz) Mendiola.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Castulo and Antonio Mendiola; brothers, Ramiro Mendiola, Reymundo Mendiola and Ricardo Mendiola; and a sister, Cristela Guerra.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly.
Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
