David Edward Gaona

David is survived by his parents, Edmundo (Ed) and Rose Gaona, his sister Jennifer Gaona, his maternal grandmother Elda G. Rodriguez, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Jesus Rodrigues and his paternal grandparents Rodolfo (Rudy) and Estela Gaona.

First and foremost, David was a loving son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend.

David was also a dedicated employee of the City of Corpus Christi, where he worked for the last 9 years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and hanging out with his friends. He was also an avid shooter, kayaker, fisherman and gamer.

He will always be remembered as a simple man with quick wit and exceeding humor. To his family, he was known as our “Baby David,” “Dude,” and our “Gentle Giant.” To his friends, he was simply their “Teddy Bear.” He was always kind and thoughtful of others, but he was never afraid to be who he was. David could be a quiet man, but if he opened up to you, he was a friend for life. He loved his family and friends, and many loved him in return. His passing has truly left a hole in the hearts of his family and friends and he will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in David’s name.

Pallbearers are Julian Gaona, Eleazar Wilburn, Jorge Gonzales, Ruben Ramos, John Hay II, Andrew Kalmo and John Gomez. Honorary Pallbearers are known and unknown friends on 2 wheels.

The family will be receiving friends and family at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly on Monday, April 18, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that same evening. A Chapel Service will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 10:00 am with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
