Deborah Ann Gonzalez, lovingly known as Debbie Gonzalez entered into the loving arms of Our Lord on March 7, 2026 at the tender age of 63. She was born on January 15, 1963 in White Planes, New York to parents, Daisy Mae Holstein and John Edward Woodruff. Debbie Gonzalez was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose life revolved around the people she loved most.
Debbie met the love of her life, Espiridion Gonzalez, better known as Speedy, at a young age and the couple formed a deep connection. The two married on March of 1984, sharing 42 wonderful years together filled with love, partnership, and family. A deeply family-oriented woman, Debbie took great pride in being present for her children and grandchildren, always making sure they felt supported, celebrated, and loved. In the early years of raising her children, Debbie was a stay-at-home mother who dedicated herself to their growth and happiness. She was very active in their schools, serving as a proud PTA mom and attending school events whenever she could. Her children always knew that if they misbehaved at school, their mom would hear about it quickly. Debbie believed in guiding her children with love while making sure they learned the importance of doing right. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. Debbie adored them and spoiled them every chance she had, creating special memories and moments they will always carry with them.
Debbie also enjoyed the simple joys of life. She loved watching movies, especially her favorite Lifetime movies and shows on the channel. She enjoyed going out with her children to different places around town and spending time dancing to music with her friends. She formed deep bonds with her neighbors, treating them like family and building friendships that felt more like siblings.
A free spirit at heart, Debbie loved to travel and take spontaneous trips to places like Laredo and other Texas cities whenever the opportunity came along. She also enjoyed shopping and exploring the city. One of the ways she expressed her independence was by riding the local bus around town, something she did often as she went about her daily adventures.
In the last few years of her life her brother Edgar devoted himself to her care, becoming not only her caregiver but also one of her closest companions. He faithfully accompanied her to appointments, stood by her through her health challenges, and their bond grew even stronger during that time. After Debbie entered long-term care following her most recent stroke, Edgar continued to visit her every day, offering constant love, support, and friendship.
She will be reunited in heaven with her parents, Daisy and John Woodruff; siblings, Daisy Grant, Harriet Clayton, John Woodruff, and Robert Woodruff.
Her memory will forever live in her beloved husband, Espiridion “Speedy” Gonzalez; children, Jennifer Martinez (Rigoberto Martinez), Steven Gonzalez (Adriana Gonzalez), Espiridion “Speedy” Gonzalez Jr. (Angelica Gonzalez), Michael Gonzalez (Gwendolyn Arizona). Brother, Edgar Charles Woodruff; grandchildren, Cristian, Neveah, Sadie, Alyssah, Steven Jeremiah, Kennedi, Imogen, Landon, and Rigoberto Jr; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the love she gave so freely will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A visitation for Debbie will be held at Funeraria Del Angel on March 11, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. A Prayer Service will begin at 7:00 pm.
