Delfina C. Torrez

Delfina C. Torrez of Corpus Christi, Texas, was called home to be with the Lord on September 29, 2023, at the age of 95, surrounded by her family. Delfina will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

Delfina (Josie) was a loving, caring, christian wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. We witnessed her strength in her faith, love and devotion for our heavenly father and his son Jesus Christ.

That faith, love and devotion poured out on all her children. We are certainly blessed by the lord above to have such a beautiful, warm and loving mom.

Her grace, laughter, smile and sense of humor were enjoyed by each and everyone of her family members. It brought her joy and blessing to see her great-grandchildren playing all around her.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Benito L. Torrez; her parents, Rosalio and Fernanda Cerda; as well as her siblings, Victor Cerda, Gilberto Cerda, Lorenzo Cerda, Rosalio Reyna Cerda, and Elva Rivas.

She is survived by her six children, Benito Torrez (Rosie), Ruth Gillette (David), Phil Torrez, Belinda Miranda (Pepe), Eddie Torrez, and Janet Melendez (Jerry); seven grandchildren, Desiree Garza (Marc), Louis A. Vargas (Clarissa), Mark Torrez (Tracy), Michael Torrez (Loretta), Krystal Ramsey (Luther), Kassidy De La Garza (Richard), and BJ Miranda; 20 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and her loving sister, Maria C. Martinez.

We want to gratefully thank Devoted Hospice, mom's nurses (Crystal, Kaelyn, Jessica). Her aides Rita and Elvira and also her chaplin Victoria. A warm thank you to Mandy.

The family will receive condolences on Thursday, October 5, 2023 from 12:30 pm -1:30 pm at Memory Gardens Chapel with a memorial service to follow. Interment will be held the same day at 3:00 pm at Memory Gardens Cemetery followed by a luncheon at Memory Gardens Event Room.
