Dorothy M. Lewis Bowers

Dorothy M. Lewis Bowers, 77, went to be with the Lord on March 8, 2014. She was born on December 10, 1936 Dorothy was the fifth and last child born to Moses and Eliza Herron Lewis of Bloomington, Texas.

Dorothy was raised in a Christian home where she confess Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was under the leadership of Pastor Murphy of Ocean of Love Christian Center in Sinton, Texas.

She joined in death by her parents Moses and Eliza Herron Lewis; her sisters, Alena Anderson and Mary A. Lewis Barnes; her brothers, John Lewis, Marcellus Lewis and Edwin Lewis. She is also joined by two nephews Johnny Lewis, Minister Carl Wady who she loved dearly and raise and one great nephew Brandon Lewis.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 58 years Thedford Bowers, to this union no children were born. Dorothy and Thedford did raise three children as their own, Mrs. Latrice Gillis (Jonathan) of Katy, Texas, Jacqueline Francis of Houston, Texas, and Fredrick Forge (Cristina) of Corpus Christi, Texas.

She also leaves 14 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; two godchildren, Billie Washington (Jeannie) of Dallas, Texas, Brittany Booker of San Antonio, Texas; four nieces, Barbra Petite of San Antonio, Texas, Gloria Cook (Kenny) of Victoria, Texas, Mozell Lewis of Corpus Christi, Texas, Shirley Farrow of Houston, Texas; one nephew Marvin Lewis of Victoria, Texas, 4 sister-in-laws and 2 brother-in-laws.

Vistation will be held on Friday,March 14, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home.

Home going service will be on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
