Dr. Roy Leon Tiemeyer

Dr. Roy Leon Tiemeyer was a well-respected dentist who provided exceptional services to the Coastal Bend community from his office in Flour Bluff for over 40 years. He passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025, after a long illness.

Dr. Tiemeyer graduated from Steven F. Austin High School in Houston, Texas in 1971.He was awarded a full scholarship to Houston Baptist University, now known as Houston Christian University, and earned his undergraduate degree in three years before obtaining his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in 1977 from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. Following graduation Dr. Tiemeyer began practice with his uncle, Dr. Joe Casillas,in Corpus Christi, Texas. In 1980, Roy opened his own dental practice in Flour Bluff, which he operated until his retirement in 2022.

Roy was not only a dedicated family practitioner, but also a passionate photographer whose great joy was photographing wildlife, especially birds. He frequently traveled to bird sanctuaries and nature preserves such as Charlie’s Pasture in Port Aransas, and national parks such as Big Bend National Park,to capture the most awe-inspiring images. Some of his photographs were published in magazines including Texas Parks and Wildlife as recently as January 2017. He received recognition and awards for the quality and uniqueness of the images he preserved with his keen eye and attention to detail. Roy also enjoyed hiking to migratory bird locations including visiting the Dakotas and New Mexico and took pride in his open-road adventures in his prized Miata convertible.

Roy Leon Tiemeyer was preceded in death by his parents, Elsie Tiemeyer and LeonTiemeyer. He is survived by his older brother, John Tiemeyer, and sister-in-law, Susie Tiemeyer, and their daughter, Sarah. Roy was dearly loved by his family, friends and professional colleagues.

A memorial service honoring Dr. Tiemeyer will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home located at 8200 Old Brownsville Rd, Corpus Christi, TX 78415.
