

Elmo was a devout Christian and a faithful member of South Crest Baptist Church. He was character who loved to cheat at Yahtzee, tease his loved ones, and catch flounder. He was the boss of the world with his family and a charmer loved by all. He will be remembered for his friendliness and generosity towards others and his outgoing soul. He worked for Carbide Chemical Company for 15 years and later went to England with Brown and Root. He worked as an offshore platform superintendent for North Sea Oil. Elmo served in the United States Army for 2 years and the Army Reserves for 2 years from 1955 to 1959.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Carruth Webb and Gaynelle Permenter.
Elmo is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Mary Kathryn Cook; children, Teresa Lynn Krell (Bill), Mona Cook; son-in-law, Peter Runyon; grandchildren, Daniel Krell (Michelle), Evan Krell, Kate Paone (Tom), Matthew Runyon; 6 great-grandchildren; sibling, Joel Garrett Cook and other kids by choice, Joan and Tom Salazar.
Graveside service will be held at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with full military honors.
