He enjoyed gardening, sports, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros fan.
Emilio was preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Juanita; son, Larry Barrera; stepson, Jose Rivera; and a brother, Antonio Barrera, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Dolores C. Barrera; children, Juan Barrera, Daniel Barrera, and Yolanda Barrera; step- children, Baldemar Rivera, Pete Rivera, Arturo Rivera, Lucia Lopez, and Sylvia Rivera. He also leaves behind 33 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews to cherish his memory.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 15, 2015 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
