

Gilbert Ray Riley, 85, passed away July 7, 2015. He was born July 18, 1929 in New Castle, Indiana and graduated from New Castle High School. Gilbert enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1947 to 1950. He was honorably discharged as a Corpsman. Following his service he moved to Corpus Christi and worked for Pittsburg Plate Glass for 31 years as an operator until retirement. Gilbert enjoyed bowling and spending time with friends at Chats, Oso, Tops and Hi 9. He was Catholic and attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Most Precious Blood Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Purgie Riley and Julia McMillan Riley; brother, Glen Riley and two sisters, Wilma Riley and Karen Fox. Survivors include a son, Chuck (Alynn) Riley; 2 daughters, Sheila (Carl) Moss and Peggy (Buddy) Alexander; 6 grandchildren, Andrew and Zachary Riley, David and Michael Moss, Buddy and Julie Alexander; 8 great grandchildren, Maria, Drew, James and Amelia Moss, Mary, Jesse, Hailey and Joey Alexander; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home from 5-9 pm, Sunday, July 12, 2015 with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 am, Monday, July 13, 2015. Interment will follow at 12:00 pm at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Andrew Riley, David Moss, Michael Moss, Buddy W. Alexander, Buddy R. Alexander and Carl Moss. Honorary pallbearers are James Moss and Chuck Riley.
