

Guadalupe E. Garces was born to Guadalupe G. Garces and Rita C. Garces, on November 19, 1939, in Mercedes, TX. He went to St. Anthony Catholic School and eventually enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was a proud veteran where he served honorably in the United States Army.
After his military service, he moved his parents from Mercedes, TX to live with him in Corpus Christi, TX. Guadalupe eventually went back to school to obtain his Associate of Applied Science Degree in Fire Science. During that period, he eventually met and married his wife, Maudelia in 1968. Together they lived in Corpus Christi, TX and raised 2 children, his son, Gabriel E. Garces and, his daughter, Rosario A. Garces. Guadalupe eventually served his community as a firefighter for the Corpus Christi Fire Department for 32 years. Upon retiring in 1998, he and his wife eventually moved to Bishop, TX where he spent his free time painting and drawing and being with his wife, Maudelia, and eventually his daughter, Rosario who came to live with them in 2008. He lived his life in Bishop till September of 2023 when he was moved to various retirement home and assisted living facilities in Corpus Christi, TX following the death of his beloved wife, Maudelia in August of 2022.They had just celebrated 54 years of marriage a week before her passing.
Guadalupe continued to live in Corpus Christi, TX and followed his daughter, Rosario until his passing. He will be remembered as a loving father who loved his family and loved to sketch and paint.
Guadalupe is survived by his son, Gabriel E. Garces and his daughter, Rosario A. Garces. He is also survived by his nephew, Anthony Garces (Carmen), nieces Irene Valdez (+), Glenda Balderas (Val), Sylvia Garces (Joe), and Betty Ortega (Rudy) as well as by his grandchildren, Gabriel Evan Garces (Chloe) and Marlena Faith Garces from his son, Gabriel E. Garces as well as many nephews, nieces, and great grandchildren.
Guadalupe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maudelia A. Garces, his parents, Guadalupe G. Garces and Rita C. Garces, his brother, Eleazar Garces and his sister, Hermila Villalobos (Sotero +).
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. and his committal with military honors at 2:00 p.m. The services will all be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8300 Old Brownsville Rd, Corpus Christi, TX 78415.
