Herlinda “Lynn” R. Vera passed away February 17, 2025, at the age of 63. She was born in Mercedes, Texas, and graduated from Bishop High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Paul Vera, on November 1, 1980. They celebrated 43 years of marriage this past November.
Lynn was a devoted wife, supporting mother, exemplary grandmother, caring daughter, loving sister, and a genuine friend. As a mother, she was the heart of our family, embodying the essence of unconditional love. Her guidance for her children was gentle yet firm. She was their anchor in times of storm and their guiding star in moments of doubt, always pointing them back to the fundamental truths of love, compassion, and forgiveness.
God granted her with her special son P.J. She cared and loved him so deeply. He was her heart and soul; she took extra care for him and as he got older, he returned this favor and took great care of her, making sure she took all her medicines and ensuring she had everything she needed.
Lynn was strong-minded and possessed a heart of gold. Her generosity knew no bounds. She was not only generous with her family members, but her beautiful soul extended to helping people she did not even know. Her radiant green eyes and playful personality lit up any room she entered. Even though Lynn frequently felt ill and was in constant pain, she still managed to joke around and make people laugh.
One of Lynn’s greatest passions was music. She loved to karaoke when she had a chance. She greatly enjoyed attending family gatherings and having her brother Miro play the guitar as she sang song after song. Her beautiful voice was heart-warming to the ear. A second passion was devoting a substantial amount of time to her cherished Corpus Christi Lightning Crew Special Olympic Team. Lynn’s hard effort and time given resulted in generating a well-renowned team. Her team became so reputable that the Corpus Christi News Team interviewed her and her coaches to inquire how she made her team so successful.
Furthermore, Lynn lived life to the fullest and loved spending time with her family celebrating all her blessings. The two most important blessings were her two grandchildren. Her oldest grandson “Guero” called her Momo, he loved to sit on her stomach as the two just watched their favorite shows. The other blessing that she celebrated for five years was the gift of having a granddaughter, her “Bella Luce” who was granted to her on her own birthday. This made her the happiest grandma ever!
Every day Lynn will be missed, while you’re eating or talking or working, she will be missed. God had a plan for her. What made Lynn so extraordinary is: despite her illness, pain and struggle, her faith in God never wavered. She found her Christian home back at El Mesias Baptist Church where everyone accepted her with open arms.
Lynn is reunited with her father, Eliberto Reyna Sr. She leaves her legacy to her beloved husband of 43 years, Paul Vera; daughter, Audrey V. Castillo; son-in-law, Rodolfo Castillo Jr.; son, Paul Vera Jr.; grandson, Rodolfo “Guero” Castillo III; granddaughter, Paislei Bella Castillo; mother, Yolanda Reyna; siblings, Janie Perez, Zoila Reyna, Irma Reyna, Eliberto Reyna Jr., Concepcion Reyna, Delmiro Reyna Sr., Enrique Reyna Sr., and Gabriel Omar Reyna.
Visitation will be held from 5 PM until 9 PM on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, where a Holy Rosary and Celebration of Life will begin at 6:30 PM that same evening. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
