

Ismael Urive, Sr., 89, of Corpus Christi, Texas, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather went to be with our Lord at his residence on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 with his loving family at his side. He was born on March 1, 1927 in San Benito, Texas, to the late Vicente and Pulcheria Urive. Ismael Urive goes home to reunite with his parents and 1 brother, David Urive. He is survived by three daughters: Criselda (Johnny) Villarreal, San Antonio, Texas; Gloria Urive, Cynthia Ann (Robert) Saenz, Corpus Christi, Texas; two sons, Ismael Urive, Jr., San Antonio, Texas and Gabriel Urive (Melody), Corpus Christi, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; his loving sisters, Elizabeth Ramirez, Martha Dix (John), Rachel Sanchez (Luis), and Mary Helen Muguerza and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and church family.
His wife, Maria Marta Urive and his sister Lydia Veach precede him in death.
Ismael was married at Primera Iglesia Bautista in Corpus Christi, Texas and later became a founding member of Segunda Iglesia Bautista, Corpus Christi, Texas, where he served as a Deacon. In Corpus Christi he went to Wynn Seale Jr. High and Corpus Christi High School, presently Roy Miller High School. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in the Philippines. He spent a year in Chicago training for his job at Corn Products Inc., where he worked for over 35 years until the plant shut down. He then worked for 10 more years at the Naval Base and retired from there as well. God blessed our father, enabling him to be a good provider for his wife and family. He and Mom were married at Primera Iglesia Bautista on Comanche Street by Rev. Ignacio Gonzales. One of Daddy’s favorite hymns was “How Great Thou Art” and his favorite Bible scripture was Psalm 27.
The family will be receiving friends beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2016 for viewing, with an evening service at 7:00 p.m. at FDA Memorial-Holly, 3442 Holly Rd. Corpus Christi, TX. Rev. Johnny Villarreal presiding. Mr. Urive will lie in state on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Segunda Iglesia Bautista, 5405 Carroll Ln Corpus Christi, TX, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with a service at 11:00 a.m.; Rev. Steve Jacquez presiding. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Ismael Urive, Jr. Gabriel Urive, Ismael Urive III, Adam Altamirano, Robert Saenz, and Juan Antonio Urive.
