Jacquelyn May Ford
5 enero , 1944 – 20 julio , 2021
On July 20, 2021, Jacquelyn May Ford passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family. Jackie, as she was known, was born on January 5, 1944, in Corpus Christi, Texas, the eldest daughter of Jack and Evelyn Nichols.
Jackie will always be remembered for her unwavering love and devotion for her four children. She was known for her amazing fried chicken as well as her love of cookie jars, salt and pepper shakers, ships, and arts and crafts. And, boy, did she love bingo nights! She could be heard for miles yelling Bingo! each time the numbers lined up. She spent many an hour glued to her TV loudly cheering on her beloved Houston Texans, too. One grandson had a running football joke with her: What are you going to do when you get to heaven and God tells you he’s a Cowboys fan?
Nanny Jackie or Grandma Jackie loved her grandkids and great grandkids beyond compare, and loved to joke and laugh with them as much as she could. As one friend wrote lovingly on Facebook, there was never a dull moment with her around.
Jackie is preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter, Debra Sue Ford.
She leaves her loving memories to her children, Donna Laird (Glen), Robert Ford, Richard Ford (Tammy); grandchildren, David Laird (Ashlee), Amy Ausmus (Robert), Brandon Knight, Donald Ford, Jacquelyn Ford, Jennifer Ford, Janie Marie Meece, Tabatha Sue Ford, Kayla Lynn Ford; great grandchildren, Paige, Rylie, Matthew, Ayden, Nicholas, Noah, Roberto, Caiden, Eli, Brylee; siblings, Judith Booth, Don Nichols; she also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of this special woman loved by so many, now promoted to their guardian angel, will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home at 10 a.m. A reception immediately follows, and the family invites all to attend.

the photo of the cousins circa 1951.

I was so saddened to learn about Jackie. I am one of your Wharton cousins. Although we seemed to lose touch as our parents and Jackie's grew apart, I have so often thought of your family, and missed the days when the cousins got together. I have tried to find Jackie unsuccessfully a couple of times during the year, but she and Judy and Donnie were on my mind lately and when i tried again to find her, instead found such sad news.
I will try to include a photo from around 1951, with cousins Jackie and Judy, Randy and Teri, and Bobby. Also will try to include a photo of your mom and dad on the steps of the lighthouse in Port Isabel, taken in 1938... it was in my Dad's photo album. I had hoped to contact Jackie to see if she would like to share some photos back and forth. If the family is interested, please contact me: texasnaturelover (at) earthlink.net.

Jackie you were a force of nature, strong, loving, caring, fun to hang out with. I have the best memories with you and the family back in the late 60s 70s and 80s. Great times we had. While packing last night came across an old photo of you and Uncle Jack sitting in their den. Just brought tears to my eyes. My thoughts and prayers are with the family this morning and this week. Prayers for comfort, strength and courage during this time of family loss.

My dear sweet friend, I will miss our many-many talks. We shared our sad times & our happy times throughout the 60 years we knew each other. I can’t count how many times our family played cards until the wee hours of the morning while our small kids played together & that was of course after you cooked your wonderful chicken dinner. Yes, how you enjoyed your bingo games & I joined you in a number of those also. Then, there was the many years of crafting that you loved & we would get together with our friends at Christmas & exchange homemade gifts we made for each other. We enjoyed meeting at Chili’s, eating & visiting together & occasionally I would drop by your house with a Whataburger which you loved so much.. I will miss you my sweet friend.
Love you, Verna

Oh Jackie I will so miss your bubbly positive outlook. You always made me feel so good after talking to you. No matter how you were feeling. I have so many wonderful memories of our adventures, craft hunting, Sunday dinners. God has got a wonderful addition or as you would say "short, little round lady here". I will miss you so much. My love to Donnie, my counsins. Love Debbie
