

Mr. Fitzgerald was born on April 16th, 1943 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He graduated from Madison High School in Madison, Wisconsin.
Upon graduation he joined the United States Navy, where he served for the next 17 years, earning an Honorable Discharge. He was especially proud of the time he served aboard the Nuclear Submarine the USS James K. Polk (SSBN-645). He was also very proud to serve his country during the Vietnam War.
After his military service Mr. Fitzgerald earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Systems Management, from Potomac College in Potomac, Maryland. Mr. Fitzgerald had a career in Information Technology for many years, which included writing Disaster Recovery Plans for the Y2K transition, earning him an award from the President’s Council in the process.
After retirement he drove a school bus for the Flour Bluff ISD in Corpus Christi, Texas. Mr. Fitzgerald also worked for a very brief time for the Corpus Christi Hooks minor league baseball team.
Mr. Fitzgerald enjoyed golfing, fishing, shooting pool with his family, going to the casino, as well as playing poker and bingo. He loved to sing and dance, and enjoyed to draw and paint. He was a huge fan of the Washington Redskins, Houston Astros, and Corpus Christi Hooks. He even started writing two books; one about the process of writing disaster Recovery Plans, and the other about difficulties of battling cancer.
Mr. Fitzgerald enjoyed living at the beach in Texas. He would proudly wear what he referred to as his “Western Wear” every change he got.
Mr. Fitzgerald was preceded in death by his father, James Milton Fitzgerald II (1946), his mother Cesarea M. “Cesi” (2014) and his beautiful little great-granddaughter McKinley Chittenden (2015).
He was married to Pauline Mary (Jones) Fitzgerald on May 22nd, 1962. He is survived by his children, Vickie Novak (Herbie), Nancy Farley (Jim), Patti Fitzgerald, and James (Jimmy) Milton Fitzgerald IV (Colleen); grandchildren, Katie Farley, Adam Farley, Robyn Novak, Ashley Perrault, Emily Chittenden, Dylan Farley, T.J. Chittenden, Courtney Lynn Fitzgerald, Cory Simmons and Kyle Simmons. His great-grandchildren, Kelsey Conway, Kenadie Farley, Kaylee Conway, RoseLee Perrault, Tatum Farley, and Mia Perrault. His sister: Joanne C. Emery of Wisconsin.
Visitation will be at 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Funeraria Del Angel-Memorial Holly, 3442 Holly Road, Corpus Christi, Texas.
Burial with full military honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 IH 37 Access Road.
