To the Wonderful Family of my Brother, James Pat Fitzgerald,
Pauline, Vickie, Jimmy and the Grand Kids, I extend my deepest and most sincere condolences and prayers. My Brother was a true Patriot and American Hero. Serving in the US Navy and completing Buds training to become a Navy SEAL, he served as an equipment tester for prototype advance and futuristic gear for Warfighter Operations. One was in Alaska where they would drill a hole in the ice, suit him up with a heated wet suit operated by a battery pack, and drop him in the frigid ice water for him to test it out. I asked him, what was the contingency plan if the battery failed? He responded, I don't know. That was when he was very young and did not have a grasp on the future.
He became one of the first SEALs in Viet Nam. Performing operations to support the US commitments by spending hours in the muddy rivers throughout Viet Nam. On one mission, he was in an ex-change of gun fire with the enemy when his single engine boat loss power and the tides were bringing them closer to the shore and in range of the enemy. He did not have a long gun for a long range shot, so he shot his weapon in the air so the projectiles would fall near the enemy. They issued a May Day, and it was a US Coast Guard Patrol Vessel that responded immediately, with guns blazing as soon as they turned into Horse Shoe Bay. Constantly firing in rhythm as they tied off the two vessels and towed them to safety. He would not let anyone say anything negative about the US Coast Guard after that.
To satisfy the wishes of the love of his life, Pauline wanted him to leave the dangers of being in the SEALs. To show his dedication to her, he lift the Brotherhood of the SEALs to become the Communications Officer for a Nuclear Submarine. Conducting missions that still cannot be spoken of today. I'm not sure if this was safer, but Pauline was happy.
With the training and experience provided by the military, he gain a clearer understanding of exposures and vulnerabilities that most would not see. This led him into the perfect field for him. Serving as a Disaster Recovery Subject Matter Expert for many Federal Government Agencies, the World Bank, the Department of Homeland Security and then serving as President of Business Guard, Inc. where he co-founded it with me. His energy along with his incredible knowledge of the industry made him an asset in an environment that he was in. 
I will miss my Brother, but I know that he has transitioned into the Loving Arms of the Lord. There will be no more pain, hurt or disappointments. Now, he has been with the Lord and have seen his Mother, Father and those who had gone on before him. I am sure that he has already found himself a place in the choir to continue to sing the praises of the Lord. Rest My Brother, for you have earned your reward.
I sincerely wish that I could have been there to support his Family, which is like my Family.

Jim and Nancy, my heartfelt condolences to you and your family.  This news broke my heart.  I'll miss playing cards and excellent conversations with Pat.  Please let me know if there's anything I can do.

My heart is sad for my Texas family. I wish I could find the perfect words to help comfort them.  I know how much Pat loved his family and so I can say I know he will be watching over all of you. Rest in peace Uncle Pat.

This made my eyes mist a little bit. Pup-Pup, it was an honor to meet and get to know you. Your stories were some of the best. I wished I could've had to chance to come see y'all on my travels to Tx, just to hello, hear another story, or hang out for a while.... Rest well in paradise sir... We'll meet again on the other side

To Nancy, Jim, and all the kids and family Iam heart fully sorry on the loss of Mr Fitzgerald. He was always nice to me when I would see him. He was quite the character and he was one of a kind. While I know the grieving process is hard you'll have a lifetime of memories to share. God bless all of you.
