Jim had mechanical skills that allowed him to fix just about anything. He loved riding his motorcycle, both on and off the racetrack, fixing cars for friends and neighbors, and going to the movies with Helen, his beloved wife. He especially loved cats and all of God’s critters.
Jim was a kindhearted, compassionate man who will be greatly missed.
In his early years, Jim worked as an auto mechanic. He also worked with his father as fleet manager for machinery and trucks. Jim spent over 20 years as a natural gas compressor mechanic, both in the field and in the shop. After retiring from Energy Industries, Jim did freelance / independent contracting.
Jim is survived by his wife of 40 years, Helen ‘Pollard’ Lance; mother, Bettie Jo ‘Holtzclaw’ Lance; brother, Lee Roy Lance Jr. (Linda Miller); sister, Jeanette (Rod Keen); numerous nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Lee Roy Lance Sr.
Jim’s favorite non-profit was The Cattery for those who wish to contribute in Jim’s honor.
Graveside services will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Corpus Christi on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 2:00 PM. Officiating the Celebration of Jim’s Life will be Kenny Eiben of Calvary Baptist Church.
