
John A. McCullough, Jr., Lt. USCG (Retired) of Corpus Christi, Texas left this life on August 22, 2012. He was born on January 15, 1921 in East Newnan, Coweta County, GA., graduated from high school in Cedartown, GA., and married his high school sweetheart, Frances Ford on 9/3/1941. His military career included Georgia National Guard and USCG. Some places he served were Pensacola, FL; Biloxi, MS; Argentia, Newfoundland; Sangley Point, Philippines; Port Angeles, WA; and San Diego, CA. In 1962 after an outstanding 23 year military service, he worked for Southern Airways as a helicopter instructor pilot at Fort Wolters, Texas and then in 1973-75 for Bell Helicopter International in Isfahan, Iran.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Frances McCullough, and 4 children, Dianne Beebe (Thomas) of Paradise, CA; John McCullough, III (Virginia) of Kingston, WA; Susan Freeman (Thomas) of Mt. Pleasant, TX; and Linda Crain (Jack) of Corpus Christi, Texas. He has 8 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
The family sincerely appreciates the loving care given by Odyssey Hospice and the personal care assistants from Homewood Residence. A special thanks to Ester, Nurse Terry, Diane and Beatrice for their exceptional kindness.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 25, 2012, at 3:00 p.m. at Homewood Residence, Corpus Christi, Texas. The date for military honors is pending and will be at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas.
