

He married his wife of 67 years on May 13, 1946. Jose was employed by Missouri Pacific Truckline for many years. He was a loving father, son, brother, and cousin. Jose enjoyed fixing old cars and will always be remembered for his helping hand, sense of humor, love of laughter, and devotion to his family. He had quite the green thumb and loved working in his yard. Jose was a sweet, quiet natured man and had respect for everyone he met. He was a member of the Teamsters Local Union Number 657 for many years.
Jose is preceded in death by his wife Sarah O. Barrera; parents Estanislado and Carmelita Barrera; siblings: Margarito G. Barrera, Virginia B. Brown, Elvira B. Martinez, Felipe G. Barrera, and Porfiria B. Salinas; grandchild Yvonne Garza.
He is survived by his children: Yolanda B. (Rey) Garza, Sylvia (Ralph) Alvarado, and Jose Barrera, Jr.
Grandchildren: Jerry Jaimes, Anthony Garza, Erica Barrera, Eric Barrera, Jose G. Barrera, III;
Great-grandchildren: Marina Sul, Magali Garza, Jared Jaimes, and Jordan Jaimes.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 5-9 p.m. Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Funeraria del Angel Everhart, 4901 Everhart Road, Corpus Christi, Texas. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 3350 S. Alameda, Corpus Christi, Texas followed by Interment at 11:30 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, 2731 Comanche Street, Corpus Christi, Texas.
