

Jose served in the Army Corp of Engineers and retired from the Corpus Christi Army Depot after 37 years. He was officially commended several times by the government for many of his adopted innovative suggestions that resulted in the government saving thousands of dollars.
He was a devout husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an avid sportsman who loved fishing and hunting. He also played baseball for the Corpus Christi Clippers and enjoyed cheering his sons and grandsons baseball teams.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Teodoro and Adela Benavides and his brothers and sisters; along with numerous other family members.
Jose is survived by his loving wife, Alda “Toni” Benavides of 47 years; his four children: Vanessa Benavides, Marco (Judy) Benavides, Melissa (Louis) Rodriguez and David (Linette) Benavides; eighteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three beautiful sisters: Cecilia Garza, Elvira (Oscar) Lopez, Aurora (Claudio) Villarreal and one brother, Claudio Benavides; and numerous other precious family members and friends.
Jose was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Public visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Funeraria Del Angel-Memorial Holly with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Rites of a Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2013 at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Old Falfurrias Cemetery in Falfurrias, Texas.
