Juan H. Lopez Sr., 72, of Corpus Christi, TX, passed away on October 31, 2024. Born in Corpus Christi on August 22, 1952, to his beloved parents Pedro M. and Beatrice H. Lopez, Juan lived a life full of love, laughter, and passion. On September 7, 1969, he married the love of his life, Lidia Rangel, beginning a beautiful journey together.
Juan was a man of many passions, none greater than fishing. Whenever he had a chance, he would grab his fishing rods and head to his favorite spots. This lifelong love for fishing inspired his career in the seafood business, where he worked for notable fish markets in Corpus Christi, including Gulf Coast Seafood, Quality Seafood, Lonestar Seafood, and Mac’s Seafood. Beyond fishing, Juan found true joy in being a grandfather. He cherished every school function, sporting event, and moment he could share with his grandchildren.
A lover of simple pleasures, Juan spent many peaceful hours outside in his gazebo, listening to his favorite music and grilling on the barbecue. Known for his sense of humor, he was always ready with a witty remark or a joke, bringing laughter to everyone around him. To his friends, he was fiercely loyal, always there with a helping hand, and to his family, he was the heart and soul.
More than anything, Juan loved being a husband. He and Lidia were inseparable, their bond growing stronger over 55 years of marriage. His family was his pride and legacy, the center of a life lived to the fullest.
Juan was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Pedro Lopez Jr. and Rosendo Lopez Sr., and his dear mother-in-law, Elena Rangel. He is survived by his devoted wife, Lidia R. Lopez; his children, Juan (Barbara) Rangel Lopez Jr. and Joe David (Sean and Bobby) Lopez; his siblings, Daniel Lopez, Cristela Oropez, Graciela Trevino, Jose Angel (Angel) Lopez, Felix (Velma) Lopez, and Hector (Rosie) Lopez. His cherished grandchildren—Matthew A. (Valeria) Tijerina, Vanessa Rae Lopez, Juan J. Lopez III—and great-grandchildren Royce A. Tijerina, Everly A. Tijerina, and Jade L. Tijerina will carry on his legacy.
The Lopez family extends heartfelt gratitude to Pastor Paul, Pastor Diana, Monica, and the Sisters of Greater Faith Church for their prayers and support. Special thanks go to Linda and Wilbur Russell, whose kindness and prayers have been a source of comfort during this time.
