Juan proudly served in the United States Army for 30 years. He worked for the Corpus Christi Gas Department for 32 years. He adored his grandchildren and will be remembered for his love of travel and his generosity. He was a mentor to all and loved by everyone.
Juan is preceded in death by his father, Juan Vargas Sr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Elma Vargas; children, Juan Vargas III, Veronica Vargas (Armando Arreaga), and Victoria “Pooh” Vargas; grandchildren, Leialani Arreaga and Alekzander Arreaga; battle brothers, Mike “Mac” McDonough and Manuel Coronado; mother, Lucia Vargas; three brothers; and one sister.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. the same evening. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church with Interment to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
