Juan M. Zepeda “Johnny” was born October 1, 1946 in Falcon, Texas to Francisco and Victoria Zepeda and reported for duty to guard the gates of heaven on January 7, 2013. Juan attended Roy Miller High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps upon graduation. He proudly and bravely served his country during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of two purple hearts and also was awarded the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm. It was during his military service that he met his wife Becky in California. They married, started their family and moved to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1972. Juan worked for the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi for over twenty five years and retired in 2010.
He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
Juan was a true Marine, husband, father, grandfather, family man, best friend, avid horseman and ranchero. He had a deep passion for ranching, racing quarter horses, the music of Vicente Fernandez, and a good barbeque or fish fry.
Juan is survived by his loving wife of forty three years Becky Zepeda (his California Girl); four children, Juan Bruno Zepeda of Corpus Christi, Yvette Snelson and husband Wayne of Houston, Lisette Banda of Atlanta, Georgia, and Emilio Zepeda of Corpus Christi; ten grandchildren; two brothers, David and Frank Zepeda and sister Beatrice Lopez.
There are no words to describe the gratitude Juan had for his wife Becky for the unconditional love and care she provided for her husband. Becky fulfilled her duty as a wife who honored her vows, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health until death do us part.
The Zepeda Family would also like to extend a special thank you to the medical staff of M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas for caring for Juan and being there every step of the way and also to the AMSCHWAND Sarcoma Cancer Foundation.
