I just found out that Larry had passed away.  I am so very sorry to the family for your lost.  I worked for Larry first at his gift store and later at Awards Unlimited.  He was a wonderful man to work for,  he was extremely kind and caring.  I was fortunate to know both him and Bee .  Your family will be in my prayers.  


I've had the honor and privilege of Larry's friendship since his first experience with Marketing and DECA.  I was a couple of years ahead of him and the association from the late 60's since Tech High and continued through Omaha Central High School  making it over a half a century of friendship.  He was always very supportive to students and teachers in the profession.  He was a problem solver and had an understanding of the challenges of public educators and particularly Marketing Coordinators.  Our association continued with Awards Unlimited and continued through the athletic and awards arena.

Patient, kind, honest, trustworthy, hard working, would do anything to help a friend, a real gentleman—these are only a few attributes of my friend, Larry. I’ve worked with or known Larry for nearly 40 years. He’s taken care of me when I messed up an awards order, he’s been a sounding board and advisor when I the business teacher needed marketing education/DECA advice, and he’s forever been a true friend. Larry will be greatly missed by all who have known him. Thoughts and prayers to his families. Rest In Peace, my friend, until we meet again.

I am so sorry to here of Larry's passing.  He taught the 2 years he was in Beatrice High DECA.  Very good and kind teacher.  He was 4 years older than the students he taught in 1971.   Rest in peace Larry.  (I mean Mr Loomis.)

Larry was a most kind, generous, and gracious man. He and Mary were my clients and became my friends. They always invited me to their home for get togethers and it was always a great time to be there. Christmas was especially wonderful as they would decorate the whole house from top to bottom and friends and family would gather to celebrate the holiday. I will miss my friend Larry greatly and I feel very blessed to have known him. ❤❤❤❤

Larry was such a caring person. I worked for him many years ago at Awards Unlimited.  He was a wonderful boss and a trusted friend.  We stayed in touch over the years and it was nice to know he retired and was leading a good life with Mary in Texas.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew him

My deepest sympathy is extended to you and yours. Losing your beloved Larry must leave you very saddened.  I was especially touched by his informative, caring and sometimes humorous notes shared to update Mary's Facebook friends during her health challenges.  The posts gave me a better understanding of Larry's kind and loving personality and his faith, as he always sought prayers for his beloved Mary.  Please know that I am thinking of you with a prayerful heart, asking that God hold you in the palm of His hand during this time of grief.  

I met Larry in 1969, our senior year at UNL, where we were majoring in marketing with a teaching endorsement. After teaching for two years we were both hired by the Nebraska State Department of Education. Larry was the state director of DECA/marketing education. We often traveled the state together calling on schools & had the opportunity get to know each other quite well. We often talked about owning our own business. In 1976 we decided to make the jump to the business world. & spent the next year considering options. Ultimately, after considering the results of a market research study, we began Awards Unlimited in Lincoln. I learned early  that "Loom" was going to be an outstanding business partner. He possessed a tremendous work ethic & an amazing skill set. I can say without a doubt that "Loom" was more responsible than I for the success we enjoyed. Working with him closely for 38 years leaves an empty feeling in my soul now that he's gone - "rest in peace", my friend.


Larry was the most thoughtful, caring, kind, faithful person I have ever known. I have always said, "if I am ever need help or find myself in a bad situation," I can always call on Larry for help. I'm sure that all those who knew and loved him could say the same thing. He was always a gentleman and a man of integrity.  He seemed to know he was needed even before asked--I recall sitting near him when we worked at NDE. I received a call (that he could hear) telling me my grandmother was in serious condition at the hospital. When I looked up, Larry was there with my coat in hand and ready to take me to the hospital. I thank our Lord and Savior for letting us have this wonderful individual for 74 years. His exemplary life was a model for the students he taught and the DECA State Officers he advised. 

Larry was such a great person. Hard worker, totally honest and trustworthy, and always ready to help friends and Awards Unlimited clients in any way he could. 

I had the distinct advantage of having Larry as our Nebraska State DECA Advisor when I began teaching and serving as the Cozad DECA advisor. He was always gracious and helpful in mentoring a newbie through the complexities of establishing a strong DECA chapter. His patience was limitless. 

When I took on the role of Nebraska State DECA Advisor, I turned to Larry and Awards Unlimited to always have the highest quality and distinctive awards. He saved me more than once by being able to provide a plaque or trophy very last minute. 

I remember him asking me if I was going to continue as State Advisor after completing my first state conference. He knew the turnover in the role was about every couple years. I said “we’ll see” and he just gave me a rueful grin! I lasted close to 25 years thanks to him and great local advisors. 

Larry, you will be missed! 

Mary- Vic and I enjoyed so much the many times we were at your home with the NextDoor Senior Group plus the time we came to keep you company while Larry worked.  We are so very sorry for your loss.  We will miss seeing him at the monthly dinners.

To the Loomis Family,
Please accept our condolences on the death of Larry Loomis.  I had the privilege of coaching and teaching him during his high school days.   He was a great young man and athlete then, and a joy to be around and to work with.  Having been in contact through the years, I know that he developed into an even better person and young man.  I coached both high school and college for 40 years, and Larry was definitely one of the best that I ever met or worked with in all that time.  My wife, Victoria Narancic Swenson, also was a graduate of St. Joseph High School, Beatrice (two years before Larry), and we both share wonderful memories of him and mourn his loss.  May the Good Lord bless all of his remaining family and friends.
