He was born on May 19, 1947, in Washington, D.C., to William Virts and Violet Brown Virts. Larry attended Bishop John Carroll High School and went on to study at the University of Maryland, where he earned college credits. On October 13, 1965, he married the love of his life, Angela F. Kloize, in Seat Pleasant, Maryland. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, family, laughter, and adventure.
Larry enjoyed a long career in business management as a Commercial Property Manager, working for Cafritz Company in Washington, D.C., and later with KSG Holdings, LLC in Texas.
A man dedicated not only to his family but also to his community, Larry was a Founding Member and the VSO of the American Legion. He was also a proud member of the Fleet Reserve in Flour Bluff and served as Secretary and Life Member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 8967 in Port Aransas.
Outside of his work and service, Larry was a man of many passions. He loved singing, whether professionally or simply for fun, and was known for the gift of his remarkable voice. He enjoyed playing handball, building detailed wooden ships by hand, and immersing himself in Native American culture and activities. He and Angela shared a love of travel, especially cruises, road trips filled with audiobooks and conversation, and taking cooking classes together. Their family fondly remembers their joy in dancing anywhere and everywhere, singing and laughing together, and cheering, sometimes loudly, while watching ice hockey.
Larry will be remembered most for his warm smile, his unforgettable voice, and his ability to make everyday moments full of joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Virts and Violet Brown Virts. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Angie Virts; his children, Lawrence Virts Jr., Michael Virts (Marie Pickett), and Antoinette Houx (Dan); his sister, Peggy Beier (Gerry); as well as extended family and many dear friends.
His legacy of love, laughter, and song will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
