She grew up on her Family's Dairy Farm, The Cantu Ranch near Realitos, TX where she lived a life filled with many loving family memories. She was the second oldest of 14 children working hard, milking cows and working out in the fields. She loved planting and gardening and was known to have a green thumb. Above all her passion was caring for others.
Leonila will be remembered for being the “mother to all”. As one of the oldest siblings in her family she helped raise her siblings, and went on to raising her own children and helping with her grandchildren. She was the matriarch of her family.
She was true artist that loved to paint and also sing. She touched many lives with her generosity and her love. Life will never be the same without her.
She married the love of her life, Homero A. Rubio on September 30, 1945.
She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Homero; parents, Toribio Sr., and Isabel S. Cantu; siblings, Dora Garcia, Noe, Luis, Humberto, Homero Ray, Toribio Jr., and Homerito Cantu.
She leaves her loving memories to her children Grace Rubio, Hector Rubio (Patricia), Herbert (Lucy) Rubio, Horacio Rubio, Arturo Ray Flores, grandson/son; grandchildren, Jose Flores, Darlene Hofner, Richard Santos, Greg Rubio, Jennie Aaesby, Jocelyn Rubio, Jason Rubio, Gabriel Rubio, Denise Rubio, Laura Rubio Elston, Erica Pearson; nineteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren. Siblings, Olga Elizondo, Esther Hinojosa, Nelda Colmenero.
Family will received friends on Wednesday, July 21 at 1:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m. with a Funeral Service to begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
