

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Leonor Galindo, age 91, who peacefully left us on January 27, 2025. Born on December 24, 1933, in San Diego, Texas, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and the unwavering pillar of her family.
A proud and loving mother of 11 children, Leonor was known for her boundless love, compassion, and dedication to her family. She spent her life nurturing and supporting her loved ones, and her presence was a constant source of strength and joy to all who knew her. She was blessed to be married for 57 years to Nicolas Perez Galindo, which lasted until his passing in 2006, was a testament to her enduring love and commitment.
Her passions were many. She found joy in the simple things—whether it was enjoying a cup of coffee with a sweet bread each morning, dancing to the lively rhythms of mariachi and tejano music, or sharing laughter with family and friends. Leonor had a special place in her heart for the music that filled her home, and her love for dancing was contagious.
She was also known for her wit and humor, a story, or a piece of chisme (gossip), bringing warmth and laughter to every conversation. Her love for novelas and Caso Cerrado was a small joy that brightened her days, and her passion for sewing, embroidery, remodeling, and shopping—each a hobby she deeply cherished and they created countless memories for her family.
As the family matriarch, Leonor was the heart and soul of our gatherings, bringing family together with her loving spirit, her laughter, and her unwavering devotion. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and the unforgettable sound of her laughter echoing in our hearts.
Leonor is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Nicolas; parents, Rosendo and Maria Leal; children, Carlos and Gilbert Galindo.
She is survived by her children, Nicolas(Josie) Galindo, Diana Torrez, Yolanda Lazo, Jose Luis Galindo, Richard Galindo, Oscar Galindo, Rene (Julie) Galindo, Sylvia (Scott) Lee, Elizabeth (Hector) Garza and Daughter in Law, Mirtha Galindo, as well as 33 grandchildren, numeros great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and many dear relatives and friends.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her spirit will forever be a guiding light in the lives of her family.
A visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Memory Sharing being held at 7:00 p.m. Family is welcoming guest again on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
