Dwight was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. Over the years, he built a hardworking career in welding and farming with companies such as Quintana Howell Petrochemical Corp., Farming, Repcon, and Gulf Coast Crane & Rigging. He was also a proud member of the South Texas Trail Riders.
Dwight was known for his wit, charm, and a dry sense of humor that made him unforgettable. He enjoyed shooting pool, drinking beer, barbecuing, gardening, hunting, and spending time with his family and grandkids. Some of his happiest moments were spent in the yard tossing a frisbee for his beloved dog, Ivy.
When it came to pool, Dwight liked to pretend he wasn’t much of a player—until real money hit the table. Then he’d quietly run the table and walk off with the winnings. You could say he had a little hustler in him. He also loved going out to eat, especially if someone else was paying. With a grin on his face, he was always slow to reach for his wallet.
Dwight had a collection of famous one-liners that everyone around him came to know by heart:
“What goes around comes around.”
“The sun don’t shine on a dog’s ass every day.”
“A fool and his money soon shall part.”
“Everybody wants to go to heaven, but not today!”
He made some of the best fried catfish and smoked brisket around, and he enjoyed every minute of cooking it. Dwight was a storyteller, a master jokester, and a man who moved at his own pace. He was most known for being a phenomenal pool player, a loving father and grandfather, driving his green ’78 Ford pickup or his ’96 Ford diesel, and for never—ever—breaking the speed limit. He drove 55 everywhere, no matter what.
Dwight is preceded in death by his parents, Winnie Mae and James "Jack" William Littlejohn; his sister, Helen "Bird" Osbourne; and his brother, Alfred Lee Littlejohn.
