Lucy graduated from King High School and continued her education at Del Mar College, where she proudly earned her LVN degree. She went on to serve her community as a nurse at Spohn Shoreline Hospital, where her gentle touch and compassionate heart comforted patients and their families for many years. On July 16, 2010, Lucy married the love of her life, Frank Garcia, in Corpus Christi. Together, they shared a bond rooted in love, faith, and family. She was also a faithful member of Solid Rock Church, where her presence and devotion were a blessing to her church family.
Lucy was known for her creativity and zest for life. She found joy in making jewelry, going for drives, playing Loteria, tending to her plants, sewing, and spending time with friends. She cherished every opportunity to gather with loved ones, whether it was for Sunday get-togethers or holiday celebrations filled with laughter and warmth. To her family, Lucy was a source of encouragement, wisdom, and unconditional love.
Above all, Lucy will be remembered for the many roles she embraced so fully: a devoted wife, a loving mother, a caring grandmother, a doting great-grandmother, a faithful sister, and a loyal friend. Her life was a testimony to compassion and strength, and her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Lucy is preceded in death by her mother, Santos Gutierrez, and her sister, Rebecca Richards.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Frank Garcia; her children, Juan Luna, Geneva Gonzales, and David Gonzales; her brothers, Eugene Gutierrez, Jose Gutierrez, and Cruz Gutierrez; 10 cherished grandchildren; and 5 precious great-grandchildren.
