Lynette was a proud graduate of King High School and pursued higher education with dedication, earning a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, and two Master’s degrees, one in Computer Technology and another in Mathematics. Her career was marked by her devotion to education and her love for children, as she worked for CCISD and served as a teacher. Additionally, Lynette had an inspirational career with the FBI as a latent fingerprint officer.
On September 21, 1979, she married Luther William Browning in Corpus Christi, Texas, and together they shared a life full of love and loyalty until his passing. Lynette was a devoted wife and a compassionate family member, survived by her brothers Leland C. Pope and Lex C. Pope, her sister-in-law Dorothy Wilson Pope, and her nephew Leland C. Pope Jr.
Lynette was known for her wise and kind-hearted nature, always extending generosity to friends and strangers alike. She was a skilled photographer, owning a studio in Oregon, and a proud member of the camera club. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel to all 50 states, Canada, Italy, Paris, and Hawaii multiple times. Her love for animals was evident as she rescued several dogs and cats, finding them good homes, and her passion extended to being an animal activist.
Her legacy is filled with memories of her kindness, her delicious cooking of lasagna, king ranch chicken, and chili, and her love for Snoopy, Bingo, bowling, movies, Hallmark, and plants, especially plumerias. Lynette was a handy woman, always ready to help neighbors and friends, often hosting Thanksgiving dinners and sharing long talks every holiday season.
Special gratitude is extended to her sister-in-law Dorothy, her best friend Judy, and friends Minerva and Margo for their support and companionship.
A life celebration is planned where Lynette and Bill's ashes will be spread, details of which are pending. Lynette's brave and generous spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
