Manuel V. “Preacher” Cabrera Sr. passed away on March 18, 2018 at the age of 70. He was born in Corpus Christi, TX on August 8, 1947. Manuel graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1967 and attended Del Mar College. He worked at Corpus Christi Army Depot where he retired after 31 years of service. He was happily married to Esmeralda Cavazos for 46 years. Manuel served in the US Navy from 1967 to 1969 and served in Vietnam Waters on a battleship. After honorable discharge he served in Naval Reserves from 1969 to 1974. Manuel received a certificate in ministry under the Church of Acts. Manuel was an active member at City on a Hill with Pastor Isaac Rangel serving as greeter usher and altar worker praying for people. He was a DJ for Radio Liberta in Corpus Christi for several years under Pastors Sendejo. He also did Nursing Home Ministry and Prison Ministry. Manuel traveled to El Salvador to minister to people there under Church of Acts. Manuel loved the Lord and loved to minister, this is why people at work named him Preacher. Manuel loved the Lord first, loved his wife, children and grandchildren and cherished every moment he had with them. He will be greatly missed. II Timothy 4:7 – I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.He is preceded in death by his parents, Refugio and Josefina Cabrera; son, Angel Cabrera and sister, Mary Cabrera Gallardo. Manuel is survived by his loving wife, Esmeralda Cavazos Cabrera; son, Manuel V. Cabrera Jr. and daughter, Rachel (James) Watts; brother, Jose G. Cabrera; grandchildren, Karrington Cabrera, William and River Watts and numerous other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel – Memorial Holly on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service to be held at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral services will be held at Funeraria Del Angel – Memorial Holly on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
