

Maria Refugio Osorio, affectionately known as “Cuca” or “Mama” to her loved ones, of Corpus Christi, Texas went to her eternal rest on August 13, 2024. María was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico on March 4, 1945, to Francisco Soto Flores and María Isabel Ruiz de Soto.
On January 15, 1972, María married the love of her life, Jose Guadalupe Osorio, with whom she shared over 52 beautiful years of marriage. María’s greatest passion was her family. She cherished her children, grandchildren, greatgrandchild, and her extended family, which included many nieces, nephews, and dear friends such as Hector and Juanita Solis. She loved her Chivas of Guadalajara (Club Deportivo Guadalajara, Liga MX), her garden, and relaxing with her amazing husband watching television or listening to music while eating breakfast and drinking coffee. María was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Francisco Soto Flores and María Isabel Ruiz de Soto; her brother, Mario Martin Soto Ruiz; brothers-in-law, Daniel Encarnacion and Ramón Ibarra Velazco; and her nephew, Gabriel Antonio Soto González. María leaves behind a legacy of love through her six children: María Guadalupe Alvarado (Deacon Lee Edward Alvarado), Ricardo Osorio, Dr. Georgina Osorio, Francisco Javier Osorio (Monica Osorio), Germán Osorio, and Gerardo Osorio (Michelle Denise Osorio); her seven grandchildren: Isabel Natalie Leal, Sean Michael Lancaster, Christina Raquel Leal, Gabriella Ariana Osorio, Marc Joseph Osorio, Madelyn Marie Osorio, and Benjamin Jose Osorio. She was also blessed with one great-grandchild, Sebastian Alexander White. She was survived by seven brothers and three sisters: María Teresa Soto de Ibarra, Carmen Soto Ruiz, Francisco Javier Soto Ruiz (Tara Soto), Gabriel Soto Ruiz (Rosalinda Soto), Germán Soto Ruiz (Emma Soto), Carlos Soto Ruiz (Raquel Soto), María Isabel Moron (Martin Moron Ramirez), José Luis Soto Ruiz, Eduardo Soto Ruiz (Kathleen Margaret Soto), and Gustavo Soto Ruiz; seven nephews: Roberto Carlos Soto, Francisco Javier Soto (Rhonda Elaine Soto), Alejandro Acevedo, Eduardo Soto González (Teresa de Jesús Magdaleno), Mario Armando Soto (Cassandra Campos Soto), Julio Cesar Soto (Jessica Paige Soto), Manuel Soto González; 10 nieces: Verónica Encarnacion Rios (Marco Antonio Rios), Connie Encarnacion, María Carmen Encarnacion Lorash (Kevin Lorash), Elizabeth S. Lindley (Travis Wayne Lindley), Daniela Dvorak (Jadrian Lee Dvorak), Elvia Marcela Soto González (Oscar Ismael López Escobar), Emma Livier Soto Ramírez (Juan Francisco Sánchez), Ana Gabriela Moron, Claudia Marie Soto, and Christina Elizabeth Soto Her legacy extends to her eight sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, 18 great-nieces, 11 great-nephews, a great-great niece, and a great-great nephew.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all her friends at Fresenius Dialysis Center and the compassionate staff, nurses,and physicians who cared for María, especially Dr. Baldemar Covarrubias, Dr. Jorge L. Vásquez, Dr. Rafael Berio-Muñiz in Corpus Christi, Texas and Dr. Karim El Hachem in New York, New York. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Brenda Barron and Rudy Hernandez from Funeraria del Angel Corpus Christi and Irene Anes for their exceptional support. We also deeply appreciate everyone who has sent condolences, meals, flowers, and prayers during this time of mourning. Your kindness has been a great comfort to us.
The family would like to invite friends and family to wear clothing with bright colors and/or floral print to the visitation and funeral service as to celebrate María’s life here on earth.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Funeraria del Angel Corpus Christi beginning at 5 p.m. and continuing with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.at Holy Family Catholic Church (2509 Nogales Street, Corpus Christi, TX 78416). Visitation will continue after the rosary until 7:00 a.m. at Funeraria Del Angel, Friday, August 23, 2024 . Rites of a christian burial will celebrated on Friday, August 23, 2024 at Holy Family Catholic Church at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery at 3pm.
A reception will be held at the funeral home after the service to share memories and food in honor Maria R. Osorio.
