Martin E. Marez

He was born on January 30, 1924, in Lockhart, Texas, to Eduardo Marez and Gabriela Euresti Marez. He was raised in Mathis, Texas.

Martin is preceded in death by his parents, Eduardo Marez and Gabriela E. Marez, daughter, Mary L. Gurule, and grandson, Martin Edward Gurule.

He moved to Corpus Christi during the early 1940's where he was a taxi driver, a bus driver for Corpus Christi Transit, a barber from 1950-1960, and a merchant seaman from 1960-1979.

He met his present wife, Amalia L. Marez in 1950, and were married on June 9, 1951. They had three children: Mary L. Gurule, Frances DeLeon, and Linda Rodriguez (Gilberto). They have five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Martin is also survived by a brother, Eduardo Marez.

He liked to barbecue and enjoyed family gatherings and was very devoted to his family, the church and grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.

A Chapel Service will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
