Mary Lou gave her life to Christ at an early age and was baptized in Franklin. At age 18, she met and married the love of her life, Leroy Waters, on February 5, 1939. Shortly after marriage, they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas. After moving to Corpus Christi, Mary Lou joined what was then known as the Church of God in Christ No 2, later renamed Shiloh Church of God in Christ. Not long after, Mary Lou welcomed her sister Louise and later her brother Amos Boone, Jr. to make their home in the city of Corpus Christi. As a faithful member of the Shiloh Church, Mary Lou served as a member of Usher Board and Prayer Band. She also served as a Pastor’s Aide and Secretary of the Sunday School Department. She loved to testify! Serving in the church was big part of Mary Lou’s life until her health would no longer allow her to do so. Mary Lou was the oldest member of Greater Shiloh until her demise. Sister Mary Lou and her sister, Louise, loved and enjoyed working together providing Housekeeping Services to families in the Corpus Christi area. For Mary Lou, Leroy Waters was her first and only boyfriend. Both were the love of each other’s lives. God blessed them to be married for over fifty (50) years. When you saw one you saw the other. They were always together. Whether to the Feed Store, Orange Grove, or Franklin, Texas, they always traveled together. They were inseparable! Mary Lou spent countless summers in Franklin, Texas helping her Mother and Father gardening, canning, raising chickens, and preparing for the winter. Though no children were born to this marriage, she had so many nieces and nephews that looked to her as a Mother. After a short illness, the Lord called Mary Lou from labor to reward; she made her heavenly transition from earth to glory. Mary Lou is preceded in death by Leroy Waters, her husband; her parents Amos and Minnie Ola Boone; her sisters: Clarissa Cameron, Jessie Garner, Alma Lee Hodge, Jesse Dee Williams, Linda Louise Boyd, Pauline Faye Houston, and brother, Amos Boone, Jr. She is survived by three (3) sisters: Mary Lee Watson of Fort Worth, Texas, Mary Helen Moore of Dallas, Texas, Evelyn Marie Boone of Franklin, Texas, and brother, Timothy Boone of Tacoma, Washington. A visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly on Monday, May 11, 2015 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be celebrated at Greater Shiloh Church of God in Christ on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 12 p.m. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
