

Melvin is a well-known songster and self-taught bass guitarist in the gospel community. He enjoyed boxing, playing the guitar and will be remembered for his love of singing, his impersonations of artist especially Elvis Presley, golfing with his brothers, driving fast cars, and for being the ultimate Dallas Cowboys fan. Melvin was a hardworking honest man and devoted husband and father and loving grandfather that will be truly missed.
Melvin is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Ethel Williams; brothers, Roosevelt Williams, Charles Lee Williams; sisters, Sally Elaine Williams, Maxine Trask, Linda Young and Ida Mae Williams Tena.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Athie Lillian Amerson Williams; children, Donna Boyd (Charles), Tasha Ramisetti (Darrell), Robert Tomlinson (Antonette), Stephanie Myles (Rico), Juanita Hart; 17 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; siblings, Gloria Jean Potter, James Edward (Lorraine) Williams, Mary Anne Pete, Vera Faye Sinegal; and sister in law, Vernell Williams.
Visitation will be held at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church on Friday, September 8, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a wake to begin at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Continued visitation will be held at Mt Pilgrim Baptist Church on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. with a Funeral Service to begin at 10:00 a.m. with Interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
