Michael was born on January 7, 1951, in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he was raised and remained a lifelong resident. He graduated from W.B. Ray High School and went on to build a life rooted in dedication to his family, career, and community.
On December 10, 1977, he married the love of his life, Carolyn Jean Parsons, at Parkdale Baptist Church in Corpus Christi. Together, they built a strong and loving family.
Michael devoted 36 years of service to the Corpus Christi Fire Department, where he had a proud and honorable career in firefighting. He was known not only for his commitment to his work, but also for his strong presence and camaraderie among his fellow firefighters.
Outside of his career, Michael lived life with enthusiasm and passion. He was a proud member of the Dragon Slayers Motorcycle Club, the Porsche Club, and the Mustang Club. He had a deep love for American muscle cars and motorcycles, and he enjoyed sharing those passions with friends and family. Above all, he cherished time spent with those he loved.
Michael will be remembered for the many meaningful and joyful memories he created with his family. His son Randy recalled, “When he first saw me in my Aggie senior boots at Final Review, it was one of the few times I saw my dad cry. The four years we spent traveling the country together buying and selling for my eBay business are something I’ll always cherish. I also enjoyed the times as a kid when my dad and I would go to the movies together, just the two of us.”
His daughter Katy shared, “Picking me up from school on his motorcycle and presenting me with my Aggie Ring on ring day for my master’s degree are memories I will never forget.”
His son Jason fondly remembered, “My first motorcycle at 7.”
His wife Carolyn shared a treasured and humorous memory: “The day I had our daughter, Katy, he grabbed an ‘It’s a Boy’ button in the delivery room to show my mom. Honey was wanting a girl desperately, and Mike was pranking her.”
Known for his larger-than-life personality, Michael made a lasting impression wherever he went. He was recognized for his size, his time serving as John G. Carlisle’s personal driver on A shift, his love of fast driving and motorcycle wheelies, and his ability to make others laugh.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Sally Sullivan; his in-laws, Jack and Erby Parsons; and his close friends, John Caldwell and Greg Laves.
Michael is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn Sullivan; his children, Jason Morris (Rebecca Morris), Randal Sullivan (fiancé Laura Timmons), and Katheryn Sullivan; his siblings, Dennis Sullivan and Diane Criswell; and his beloved grandchildren, Katheryn Morris, Jaclyn Morris, Michael Adams, Jack Sullivan, and Jacob Adams.
